Kang Jung-hwa entered the entertainment industry in 2002 through the KBS variety program Sanjang Meeting – War of the Roses. She made her acting debut in 2003 with a supporting role as Jo Dong (a court lady) in the highly successful historical drama Jewel in the Palace (Dae Jang Geum).
She continued with supporting and leading roles in several dramas of the mid-2000s, including Three Wives (2004), Bad Housewife (2005) as Nam Eun-mi, Let’s Go to the Beach (2005) as Min Joo-hee, Which Star Are You From? (2006) as Yoon Mi-hyeon, and High as the Sky, Wide as the Earth (also known as By Land and Sky, 2007) as Yoon Eun-joo. She also made a cameo appearance in Que Sera Sera (2007).
In film, she appeared in the 2004 horror movie Bunshinsaba (also known as Ouija Board or Witch Board) as Kang So-jeong and later in the 2010 action-comedy Dancing Ninja (a U.S.–Korea co-production), where she played a ninja character and performed action sequences. She also appeared in music videos and worked as an MC on programs such as Mnet’s Wide Entertainment News.
