Before acting, Jin Ki-joo followed a conventional professional path. After university she joined Samsung SDS as an IT consultant through the company’s open recruitment and worked there for about three years. Unsatisfied with the role, she left to pursue journalism and briefly worked as a trainee reporter at G1 Broadcasting (Gangwon regional station).
In 2014 she entered the SBS Supermodel Contest, placing highly among roughly 2,600 participants and winning the Olivia Lauren Award. This experience opened the door to the entertainment industry. She made her acting debut in 2015 with a supporting role in the tvN drama Twenty Again (Second Twenty).
