Lee Joo-bin first entered the entertainment industry as a DSP Media trainee in high school and was part of the pre-debut lineup for the girl group Rainbow. She left before the group’s 2009 debut, feeling she was not suited for idol life and preferring not to pursue singing.

She began working as a model (including fitting and commercial modeling) while attending university and later shifted fully toward acting. Early appearances included music videos and minor film roles.
